In the railroad sector, DRO is characterized by its economically optimized operation of passenger and freight transport. The company operates both trains and transport infrastructure. Together with its subsidiary Mode5 GmbH, which is currently being founded, DRO is developing an economically viable operating concept for the sustainable use of magnetic levitation trains in vacuum tubes – also known as Hyperloop.

Conversion to battery-electric drives is required for resource-conserving and economically sustainable shunting operations. This conversion is being carried out by the subsidiary e-loco GmbH, which is also in the process of being founded.
