No sustainable economy without groundwork: research and education have been an essential part of the EUREF-Campus from the very beginning.

How can eco-friendly hydrogen be produced? What storage options are available for renewable energies? Which future technologies are also economically viable? These are just a few of the questions that students at TU Berlin are scientifically exploring in their master’s programmes at the EUREF-Campus Berlin.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of the concept. Students benefit from the excellent expertise available on the EUREF-Campus. Early on, they can start networking with the companies, start-ups and research institutions based on campus. The proximity of research, teaching and business in terms of both location and focus is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

EUREF-Talent-Campus

Since the 2012/2013 academic year, the Technical University of Berlin has been offering a range of master’s degree programmes on the EUREF-Campus focusing on the topic of ‘Cities and Energy’.

The TU-Campus EUREF gGmbH was founded in 2008 as an interdisciplinary European teaching, research and consulting institution to develop the degree programmes and is recognised as an affiliated institute of the Technical University of Berlin since 2011. The institute supports the social transformation process from fossil fuel concepts to concepts based on renewable energy. The EUREF-Campus in Berlin Schöneberg offers continuing education and training events for various target groups, research and consulting services and, above all, continuing education master’s programmes directly related to the topics of the energy transition.

Following the opening of the EUREF-Campus in North Rhine-Westphalia, research and learning in the real-world laboratory of the energy transition will also be possible in Düsseldorf in future. Find out more about promoting talent at the EUREF-Campuses in Berlin and Düsseldorf at:

Master’s degree programmes

TU Berlin currently offers English-language master’s degree programs in energy management, building sustainability, and sustainable mobility management.

These internationally recognized master’s programs are structured in a modular and interdisciplinary manner and train future experts and managers. They are designed for students and young professionals with a first academic degree (bachelor’s, master’s, diploma) in the fields of energy, construction, architecture, transportation, technology, economics, and law. At least one year of professional experience after graduation is also required.

MBA Building Sustainability

Management Methods for Energy Efficiency Management Methods for Energy Efficiency is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program for anyone seeking a career in real estate project planning and management, with a focus on implementing sustainability and understanding the relevance of different urban contexts.

The concept of the German “Energiewende” (energy transition) has attracted international attention. It encompasses a wide range of measures aimed at making Europe’s largest economy free of fossil fuels and nuclear energy. To achieve this, all areas of energy production and consumption must undergo a transformation process. Alongside mobility and industry, buildings are therefore one of the key factors for a successful energy transition.

The program teaches skills, methods, and concepts for examining and understanding different approaches and aligning them with sustainable solutions. Such competencies are indispensable for buildings, construction sites, and real estate projects that take energy efficiency and other sustainability criteria into account as a balance to economic, social, ecological, and cultural aspects in responsibility for future generations.

Changes in climate and the economy, public opinion, technological progress, and regulation present unpredictable challenges and opportunities. This situation calls for new solutions from highly qualified experts with a comprehensive overview, an international outlook, and the will to make a real difference.

Thanks to its economic, entrepreneurial, and industrial strength and its successful and progressive energy policy, Germany is seen as a pioneer of the global “energy transition.” This MBA program combines academic excellence with industry expertise and aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of progress in the energy sector at an international level. It teaches skills for leadership roles and for strategic, problem-solving, and sustainable management decisions in the energy sector and beyond.

MBA Sustainable Mobility Management

Sustainable Mobility Management is an ideal MBA program for transportation engineers, mobility experts, urban planners, architects, and sustainability project managers seeking to acquire in-depth expertise in sustainable mobility management.

Government agencies, businesses, and other transportation and mobility providers must rethink their existing strategies. Every urban area faces its own specific challenges: traffic congestion, emissions, safety, accessibility, and economic impact are just a few of the factors that shape the mobility situation for residents. This creates an increased need for broadly educated, qualified managers who are able to address these issues with new technologies and innovative business models.

Mobility2Grid Research Campus

Mobility2Grid is working on the EUREF campus to explore ideas for low-carbon mobility and a city that’s safe, quiet, and has clean air. The aim of the research campus is to transform mobility and the transport system, taking the energy system into account. What is analyzed and tested in the real-world laboratory on the EUREF campus has the potential to be transferred to larger urban and municipal areas.

Since its launch in 2011, the research campus has undergone a continuous development process and is already in its second funding phase. Important measures include not only further development of content, but also the establishment of existing partner structures and the integration of new partners from science and industry. Eight work packages for the second funding phase have emerged from the topics covered in the first funding phase: grid integration, automated driving and charging, electrification of fleets and depots, neo-mobility, transfer areas, participation and acceptance, internal monitoring and innovative knowledge management, and knowledge transfer.

The primary goal of the consortium is to develop efficient and networked systems for a climate-neutral city, which implies challenges in the transport and energy sectors.
